Overview
Form Energy is seeking a strategic, driven, and highly experienced Director of Federal Affairs to lead our engagement with the U.S. federal government. In this pivotal role, you will shape and execute our federal policy agenda to support Form Energy’s mission to transform the electric grid. You will be responsible for building and maintaining high‑impact relationships with the U.S. Department of Energy and other federal agencies, Congress, and key partners, while delivering measurable policy outcomes that advance our business and regulatory objectives.
Base pay range $239,940.00/yr - $302,200.00/yr
What you'll do
Develop and execute federal affairs strategies that support Form Energy’s commercial and operational objectives, in close coordination with internal teams and external allies.
Serve as a trusted advocate and representative of Form Energy with Congress, federal agencies, trade associations, and policy coalitions.
Monitor, analyze, and proactively engage on federal policy developments, translating them into clear recommendations and action plans for Form.
Build and deepen strategic relationships across the executive and legislative branches, federal agencies, and key energy and climate stakeholders.
Lead and coordinate Form’s engagement with trade associations and multi‑stakeholder advocacy groups.
Provide oversight of all federal government relations consultants and lobbyists, ensuring aligned messaging, strategic deployment, and results‑driven performance.
Oversee grant compliance and reporting in coordination with internal teams to ensure timely, accurate, and transparent use of public funds.
Manage the federal affairs budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and clear reporting on ROI.
What you'll bring
8+ years of federal government affairs experience, with a strong preference for backgrounds in energy storage, clean energy, or related infrastructure sectors.
Direct experience working on Capitol Hill and/or within a federal agency is preferred.
Proven track record of securing meaningful legislative and regulatory outcomes for mission‑driven, fast‑growing companies or organizations.
Deep understanding of federal policy processes, players, and timelines—especially as they relate to climate, energy, industrial policy, and grid reliability.
Experience managing external consultants and lobbyists, including performance management and contract oversight.
Demonstrated ability to manage a departmental budget and ensure strong fiscal accountability.
Experience with federal grant programs, including compliance, reporting, and alignment with company goals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively engage technical experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and other stakeholders.
Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to prioritize competing demands and deliver results under tight timelines.
Collaborative leadership style with a commitment to fostering a positive and high‑performance culture.
