Director, Asset Protection Strategy and Analytics
Burlington Stores, Inc. is hiring a Director of Asset Protection Strategy and Analytics to protect company assets and reduce inventory shortage by leading the Asset Protection (AP) Strategy and Analytics team and the AP Finance team. This position reports to the VP Shortage Control.
Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr
Overview Burlington is hiring a Director of Asset Protection Strategy and Analytics to protect company assets and reduce inventory shortage by leading the AP Strategy and Analytics team and the AP Finance team. This position reports into the VP Shortage Control. The AP Strategy and Analytics team analyzes shortage-related data and answers strategic questions regarding shortage control, merchandise protection, and profitability. The team provides regular business reporting and ad-hoc analytics to track trends and understand drivers. This role will oversee AP's reporting and analytics databases and systems, leveraging insights to create dashboards and tools, and will help build the strategy and vision for the AP Strategy and Analytics team.
Responsibilities
Develop shortage-strategy improvements with Finance, AP, and PIC colleagues; analyze physical inventory results to identify opportunities by merchandise category or market.
Design store-level shortage risk program strategies considering geography, historical shortage data, projected sales, etc.
Create a store complexity model to assess crime and loss risk to guide merchandising protection and staffing decisions.
Recommend changes to EAS standards and processes; ROI calculations and business cases for EAS investments.
Analyze shortage by price point to optimize tagging for high-shortage classes and consider removing tagging from low-shortage classes to optimize supply and labor.
Support business-case writing and lead preparation of business-case documents.
Responsibilities (cont.)
Design, develop, and maintain BI database applications and analytical tools to automate and report AP metrics; deliver reporting on shortage control metrics and drive process improvements.
Set standards for shortage performance with accurate metrics and timely reporting; lead weekly and monthly performance reporting with dashboards.
Develop shortage-related scorecards for corporate and field leaders; conduct ad-hoc analyses to reveal trends and root causes.
Coordinate with IT on requirements, design, upgrades, and maintenance for IT-supported reports.
Oversee budget and forecast
Lead budgeting and expense management strategies to support financial goals of the AP organization.
Monitor AP budget performance; identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Identify process improvements to streamline budgeting and expense management.
Conduct audits to identify cost-saving opportunities; summarize budget trends for senior management with insights and recommendations.
Ensure accurate records of budget allocations and expenditures; ensure compliance with budgeting policies.
Lead AP Strategy and Analytics and AP Finance teams
Develop, motivate, coach, and inspire teams to grow and perform.
Build strong partnerships with Store Operations, Finance, PIC, Merchants, etc., to secure support and drive best-in-class execution across stores.
Train and support AP team members on budgeting and expense management.
You\'ll come with
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar analytic field; MBA preferred.
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in analytics, strategy, and project management of reporting/analytical systems.
Proficiency in building and setting up BI and data-management processes, dashboards, tools, architectures, and data tables is preferred.
Experience in retail Shortage Control, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, and/or Operations preferred.
Excellent analytical skills with strong business judgment and ability to synthesize insights; high proficiency in Excel and Access.
Experience with MicroStrategy BI, Power BI, SQL, and Visual Basic a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Occasional travel; hybrid schedule with travel to the office ~2x/month is acceptable.
