Job Summary

The Remote Safety Manager will be responsible for promoting a safety conscious culture by mitigating health and safety risk to employees. This position shall reduce claims and lost time injuries by providing safety and workers compensation support to Compass and Eurest units at the Naperville and 30S facilities. The support provided will include training, site visits/inspections, job safety analysis review, implementation of policies and procedures, safety performance measurement, and communication. This will be accomplished through daily engagement with staff, risk mitigation, training, meetings, and audits. The Safety Manager will have no director reports and will report directly to the Director of Safety and Health and Regional Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Achieve Budget/Financial Responsibilities: Analyze status reports to determine trends and develop action plan to reduce financial impact. Focus on units experiencing increased injury trend and provide solutions for improvement. Utilize financial and worker injury report to determine where focus should be emphasized.

Customer Relations: Respond to Customer concerns regarding health and safety. Facilitate Contractor Orientation Class.

Operation Excellence: Inspections — Ensure that Compass/Eurest facilities comply with OSHA and other state and federal standards through facility inspection. In addition, ensure that the unit is in compliance with safety and workers compensation procedures. Provide management with results/recommendations following inspection. Follow-up on progress.

Awareness and Incentives: Ensure that units have effective ongoing safety awareness programs to promote a safe work environment. Support incentive programs to increase awareness for management and employees.

Compass Support: Assist the Compass Risk Management Department in the development and administration of effective and efficient loss prevention and control programs.

People Management: Management Training — Provide bilingual training to follow safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment through training, presentations, conference calls, and the distribution of safety materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Experience in implementing a variety of occupational health and safety programs

Ability to conduct investigations and evaluations and evaluate cost and risk factors

Ability to interpret and apply a variety of laws, rules and regulations

Excellent presentation skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work well in a fast paced, high volume environment

Ability and willingness to travel 60% is required

Ability to work well with internal and external business partners
