Overview

The Director of Client Finance (DOCF) is responsible for overseeing Charter Impact’s service delivery and acting as an outsourced CFO for our clients. The DOCF oversees all finance, accounting, and compliance reporting for assigned clients by working collaboratively with the Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Retirement Services teams, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial information. This role is highly visible to Charter Impact clients and requires delivering excellence in professional expertise and customer service in a proactive, positive manner. This position is remote for candidates based in AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, MI, NV, OR, SD, TX, UT and WA. Responsibilities

Oversee financial and accounting services and provide direction to Charter Impact teams in: financial statement preparation; accounts payable; accounts receivable; grant expense tracking; grant reporting for governmental and private grants; and ad hoc reporting. Review all financial statements prepared by Accounting Teams to ensure GAAP compliance. Prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts for clients with insights into their financial condition. Oversee the annual financial and governmental A-133 audits: work papers, liaison with auditors, and understanding of governmental programs. Oversee and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all compliance reporting. Serve as a fiscal liaison to authorizers, counties, state and federal agencies. Provide training to client staff to ensure internal controls are properly implemented and followed. Work with organizational leaders and other executives to ensure financial information is properly communicated. Exceed clients’ expectations in terms of quality and accuracy of information at all times. Develop and maintain long-term relationships with client leadership and staff. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the charter school industry and related funding through regular professional development. Mentor staff to ensure continued professional growth within Charter Impact teams. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting desired. 7 years of experience, including oversight and development of staff. Experience in a professional service firm (CPA firm) is a plus. Experience in charter school finance and operations is a plus. Non-profit accounting experience is a plus. CPA is highly desired but not required. Ability to maintain a close, highly collaborative team environment with clients and Charter Impact staff. Exceptional customer service skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High organizational skills with attention to detail. Self-starter able to prioritize and multi-task without daily direct supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Knowledge of Sage Intacct or other non-profit accounting systems. What’s in it for you
