Overview Electrical Engineer position in Bohemia, NY, on-site, direct hire. Requires a minimum of four years of current experience and proficiency with CANbus, VFDs, PLC troubleshooting, Servo Drives and DC Drives, as well as scripting languages. Successful candidates will have several years utilizing AutoCAD and MS Dynamics. Candidates with experience in imaging equipment and robotics are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Collaborate continuously with the Mechanical, System Engineering teams responsible for the design of electro-mechanical and/or material handling systems.

Optimization of actuators, robotics, and manipulators.

Installation, programming & commissioning of systems.

PLC programming and troubleshooting of control systems.

Install, wire and configure electrical into new and existing inspection systems.

Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure compliance with internal guidelines, quality standards and national codes and standards.

Create, revise, and finalize BOMs.

Work with Production, Design & Installation teams to revise drawings and generate final as-built package.

Provide support to Technical Writing and Project Management teams in the creation of technical documentation, system manuals, and customer-facing documentation.

Test, troubleshoot and debug electrical components and systems in-house and at customer locations.

Collaborate with engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to help resolve customer problems.

Ensure all work is completed in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal electrical standards.

Potential travel to customer sites or other company locations worldwide (approximately 20%).

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Three (3) to Five (5) years of electrical electro-mechanical system design experience.

Proficient level of expertise in AutoCAD.

Experience working with and generating BOMs within an MRP or ERP system, preferably MS Dynamics.

Robotics programming highly preferred.

Previous experience troubleshooting electrical circuits.

Proven expansive knowledge of electrical circuitry.

Working knowledge of established electrical safety work protocols and practices and ability to read electrical diagrams.

Must have prior experience working with test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.

Knowledge in control programming environments or other scripting languages such as RSLogix, VB.

Must be highly versed in integration of DC Drives, VFDs, Servo Drives, PLCs and PC-based control systems.

Working knowledge of CANbus, Controller Area Network (CAN) for real-time control system applications as well as a high proficiency with motor drives (Copley), PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and PC-based control systems.

Working knowledge of Pneumatic Actuator Control and Relay Logic.

Must be a US citizen or US permanent resident who is legally authorized to work in the US and able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.

Will need to successfully pass a drug test and present a clean and valid driver’s license.

Established understanding and experience working with high voltage power levels (>1KW).

Previous experience wiring and installing electrical panels and wiring and integrating electro-mechanical components into a system.
