The Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for leading and supervising the accounting activities related to the company’s revenue cycle.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day management of the accounts receivable and revenue functions, leading a team of 3. Perform ASC 606 contract analysis with documentation of management’s assessment and results to ensure revenue is properly recognized in a timely manner. Develop white papers or accounting memos as the subject-matter expert on ASC 606 to support the company’s positions on contracts and revenue recognition issues. Oversee all elements of accounts receivable, including billing, collections, and reporting. Collaborate with the A/R Supervisor and Account Management teams to optimize client finances. Manage the monthly and quarterly revenue close, including billings, journal entries, and reconciliations around revenue, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, contingent revenue, and unbilled A/R. Assist with other close activities as needed including P&L reviews and variance analysis. Assist with external audits and other regulatory and compliance requirements. Evaluate, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and controls. Provide ad-hoc and technical accounting assistance in other areas as needed. Advise staff on non-routine reporting transactions; hire, coach, and develop staff; assist in onboarding and training new team members. Encourage continuing professional education and development. Required Qualifications
5+ years of relevant accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility; minimum 2 years in a fast-growing medium to large accounting environment. 2+ years supervisory experience. Strong familiarity with ASC 606 and revenue recognition accounting. Ability to prioritize, manage workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Highly proficient in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS). Proven track record of successfully managing staff and developing accounting processes. Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience in public accounting (preferred). CPA license (preferred). Prior experience managing the A/R function (strongly preferred). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with teams across all levels of the organization. Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus. Physical Job Requirements
May require standing, walking, and sitting for extended amounts of time. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
