Overview Dominion Energy at the Innsbrook Technical Center in Glen Allen, VA is currently seeking a Consulting Engineer in PRA.

Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) is part of the Nuclear Safety Engineering (NSE) organization in the Nuclear Analysis & Fuel and Regulatory Assurance (NAFRA) department. PRA has responsibility for developing, maintaining, and applying probabilistic risk models to support Dominion Energy’s nuclear plants in Virginia, Connecticut, and South Carolina. The PRA models are designed to evaluate plant response in the event of an accident at a nuclear power station. They account for the design of plant systems and the responses of plant operators to potential accidents to evaluate the importance of systems and components to plant risk. Risk insights are used to improve safety and efficiency of plant operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities

PRA Modeling - Use industry software to maintain PRA model files in accordance with the ASME/ANS PRA Standard

PRA Applications - Perform analysis using the PRA models to support regulatory and elective risk-informed programs and applications (Maintenance Rule, NFPA 805, Significance Determination Process, Mitigating Systems Performance Index, etc.)

Organizational Interface - Interface with Engineering, Operations, Outage & Planning, Maintenance, Training, IT, and other departments

Station Reviews – Perform reviews of station documents for PRA impact, including procedure changes, Design Change packages, and License Amendment Requests

PRA Documentation - Document model changes, supporting analyses, and PRA applications to efficiently and effectively establish model bases

PRA Project Management - Lead and manage PRA projects that involve multiple engineers/vendors and interface with multiple departments

Required knowledge, skills, abilities & experience

10+ years of nuclear industry experience

5+ years in Operations, Outage & Planning, or RICT program implementation/Fire PRA model development

Prior experience with Phoenix Risk Monitor software

Familiarity with Technical Specifications, Operability Determinations, Emergency Operating Procedures, and station maintenance scheduling

Knowledge of fundamental nuclear, mechanical, and electrical theory and engineering principles

Knowledge of fundamental theory, design, systems, structures, components, and operation of pressurized water reactors

Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead

Professional orientation and effective interpersonal skills; effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms; collaboration and knowledge sharing; ability to self-start and work independently

Preferred Past work experience includes SRO license, STA qualification or Work Week Coordinator role

Experience with Shutdown Safety Risk for outages

Prior PRA experience

Prior ERO experience

Note: A partial year of work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the required years of experience. A Master\'s degree will count as one year toward the required years of experience.

Required Engineering Criteria For placement of a candidate in a Consulting Engineer title, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country\'s own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country\'s accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Education Requirements Education Level: Degree required (equivalence not accepted in lieu of degree): Bachelor in Engineering

Licenses, Certifications, or Qualifications

Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE)

Other Working Conditions Safety-sensitive position, subject to random drug testing

Qualification for unescorted access to Dominion nuclear sites

Access to information under the purview of 10 CFR 810
