Area Director of Finance

The Nines, A Luxury Collection Hotel
and
Hotel Zags

Responsibilities
Supports multiple hotels across all areas of financial compliance and reporting, budgeting development and management.
Assists in the operation of each leaders department and special projects. Identifies risks and presents solutions that guide leaders in making effective decisions that meet the hotels' financial interests.
Develops annual operating budget, operating plan and financial goals. Achieves budgeted revenues, costs and profits through accounting diligence and expenditure controls and proficient accounting practices.
Sets written priorities and key objectives for each department head quarterly, including action plans and timelines; follows up to ensure successful implementation and corrective action when objectives are not met.
Monthly forecasting of operating staff and cost expenditures; aligns business planning with forecasted sales and costs and provides guidance to department heads.
Monthly review of financial statements to correct problems, ensure spending aligns with plans, and plan for future business. Reviews and approves expenses in "other expense" categories; regularly reviews major expenses to ensure prudent use of funds.
Promotes associate morale and loyalty; communicates, counsels and assists in staff development. Is visible and available to associates per the open door policy; attends monthly department meetings where possible.
Ensures the hotel management team has the experience, knowledge and ability to meet job requirements. Implements cost controls and protects hotel assets at all times.
Reviews sales solicitation activities, occupancy and group room rates; evaluates market mix and takes actions to position the property for increased business. Involvement in key accounts through contract reviews and meetings with the sales department.
Qualifications
Education/Formal Training: A four-year college degree (accounting preferred) or equivalent education/experience.
Experience: Five to ten years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).
Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of all hotel accounting functions; advanced knowledge of accounting, finance and hospitality; ability to analyze activities or information to arrive at logical conclusions; proficiency in office management, bank reconciliations, state and federal reporting, training of accounting staff, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, and closing the books.
Physical Demands
Up to 15-20 lbs lifting, pushing, pulling; generally boxes and computer equipment. Some bending/kneeling as required.
Mobility between offices and departments; no continuous standing, climbing or driving required.
Ability to train and interact with management and associates; ability to read reports and operate computer equipment.
Environment Work inside 95% of the time.
