Are you a detail-driven accounting professional with a passion for SEC reporting and technical accounting? An industry-leading packaging and paper manufacturer with a national footprint and a mission to deliver. As our Manager, Financial Reporting & Controls, you'll play a key role in our corporate finance organization, owning critical aspects of external financial reporting, contributing to high-visibility initiatives, and working cross-functionally across the enterprise.
This is a high-impact, highly visible role with the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise while influencing the financial narrative of a publicly traded company.
Responsibilities
Lead and support the preparation of SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K), including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A, ensuring full compliance with all applicable accounting standards and SEC regulations.
Contribute to the preparation of pension plan financials in line with GAAP and ERISA requirements.
Assist in drafting the annual proxy statement and environmental regulatory disclosures in partnership with Legal.
Research and evaluate new FASB and SEC pronouncements and help design and implement compliant processes.
Provide technical accounting guidance to internal stakeholders across departments on complex transactions.
Partner with Internal Audit to evaluate, design, and document internal controls related to financial reporting.
Collaborate on policy development, acquisition due diligence, and debt accounting matters.
Support special projects, including strategic initiatives, system implementations, and process enhancements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s in Accounting or Finance a plus).
CPA preferred, CMA also considered.
4–6+ years of experience, ideally a blend of Big 4/public accounting and corporate financial reporting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, financial systems, and internal controls.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general ledger accounting software.
Experience with ERISA compliance and retirement plan reporting is a plus.
A strong communicator with a collaborative mindset and the ability to break down complex topics clearly and effectively.
Known for your precision, critical thinking, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Technically sharp—confident navigating GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal control frameworks.
Curious and proactive—you stay ahead of regulatory changes and bring solutions to the table.
