Overview Principal Security Architect - GenAI and Emerging Technologies - Remote. The Hartford’s Information Protection (THIP) organization is seeking a technical leader to define security direction for the company’s use of AI/GenAI capabilities and to evaluate, recommend and implement new security capabilities.

Responsibilities

Partner with key stakeholders and technology partners to provide leadership for GenAI security priorities, balancing security with business needs and delivery timelines.

Design and develop architectures, frameworks, and requirements for secure consumption of AI/GenAI across patterns, including internally maintained models and SaaS solutions.

Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for GenAI use cases, recommend security requirements, and monitor adherence.

Collaborate with development teams, data scientists and security professionals to implement security measures that protect AI models against threats (prompt injections, inference attacks, data poisoning, model theft, etc.).

Represent the organization in leadership discussions, risk governance councils, and AI/GenAI working teams.

Lead the cybersecurity team’s efforts to monitor and evaluate emerging security technologies in partnership with the enterprise Innovation team to identify and recommend new capabilities.

This role can be Hybrid or Remote. If you live near Hartford, CT; Charlotte, NC; or Chicago, IL, you may be asked to work in-office 3 days per week (Tuesday–Thursday). Remote candidates may need to come into the office as business needs arise.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience as a security professional with a focus on security architecture related to cloud security, threat modeling, identity management and authentication, network security, software engineering, cryptography, penetration testing, mobile security, and/or infrastructure services.

Cloud Security Engineering: Designing and deploying robust cloud security architectures for AI/ML workloads on AWS and Google Cloud.

AI/ML Security Leadership: Proven expertise securing Generative AI systems with successful implementation of AI security frameworks.

Generative AI & LLMs: Hands-on experience leading AI/ML initiatives using large language models and platforms such as GCP Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, ChatGPT, etc.

Cross-Platform AI Security: Knowledge of securing AI applications across major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and AI ecosystems, including CoPilot and other enterprise-grade LLMs.

Threat Modeling & Risk Mitigation: Expert in identifying and mitigating AI-specific attack surfaces and threats.

End-to-End AI Security Strategy: Ability to lead development and execution of comprehensive AI/ML security strategies, integrating secure model development, deployment, and monitoring.

CISSP, CISM, and/or Cloud and AI-specific certifications are highly desirable.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support STEM OPT (I-983) endorsement for this position.

Compensation The listed annual base pay range is based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay may vary and could be above or below the range based on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies. Base pay is one component of The Hartford’s total compensation, which may include bonuses, incentives, and other rewards.

The annualized base pay range is:

$149,360 - $224,040
