You will be a trusted advisor to business and corporate leaders, providing day-to-day legal support that shapes operations, contracts, compliance, litigation, joint ventures, M&A activity, marketing, and commercial transactions. You’ll drive business success by negotiating and drafting high-impact contracts, sourcing agreements, joint development agreements, and other critical commercial agreements. You will play a key role in safeguarding Bakelite’s business by interpreting legal requirements affecting the chemical industry and translating them into practical, actionable solutions. Qualifications
3 to 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney and/or as an in-house legal counsel. Masters or JD degree. Law firm experience preferred. Familiarity with corporate law and (international) commercial laws. Strong drafting and negotiation skills. Excellent business judgment and flexibility to cover a broad range of legal matters. Demonstrated experience as a team player. Experience in a manufacturing/chemical company is a preference. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Able to work from Atlanta office is preferred. Able to review Spanish and French documents a plus. Speaking Spanish language is a plus. Ability to travel 10%. What Does a Typical Day Look Like?
Here are your primary responsibilities: Provide regular updates regarding new and pending local legal and compliance matters to business and corporate leadership. Assist in the development of policies and procedures associated with compliance and best practices, including process improvements. Collaborate with business leaders on major projects, such as new sites or divestitures or commercial contracts. Track and communicate relevant legislative and regulatory developments and assist in evaluating potential impact on Bakelite operations. Coach and develop paralegal resource(s). Coordinate with and supervise outside counsel, as required. The Legal Counsel will work closely with the other Legal team members. Life in Atlanta
