will collaborate closely with building management and engineering teams to identify opportunities for improvement, analyze building performance, and execute actionable solutions that lead to long-term energy savings. The overall objective of this position is to coordinate and support various tasks related to Existing Building Decarbonization, with a strong emphasis on delivering successful RCx projects through the Retro-Commissioning Program. Candidates must have an in-depth understanding of the local HVAC industry, energy auditing practices, and a proven track record of producing high-quality technical reports and recommendations. Responsibilities

Lead and execute retro-commissioning (RCx) projects from initial site assessment through implementation verification to ensure optimal building performance. Conduct detailed facility assessments and system diagnostics to identify operational inefficiencies and opportunities for energy savings. Develop and document energy conservation measures (ECMs) with quantifiable savings, cost-benefit analysis, and implementation strategies. Coordinate with facility managers, building owners, and contractors to schedule assessments, review findings, and support implementation of recommendations. Generate comprehensive technical reports in alignment with RCx program standards and requirements. Utilize data logging equipment and building automation system (BAS) trend data to evaluate system performance and identify optimization strategies. Collaborate with internal teams and utility partners to ensure timely project delivery, quality assurance, and program compliance. Stay informed on industry best practices, energy codes, and utility incentive programs to support continuous improvement and innovation in RCx delivery. Requirements and Qualifications

The position requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to energy efficiency. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic and mission-driven team. The following qualifications are required: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in retro-commissioning (RCx), energy auditing, or HVAC system optimization. Demonstrated experience delivering RCx projects within the Retro-Commissioning Program. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation systems (BAS), lighting systems, and energy management strategies. Proficiency in energy modeling, diagnostic tools, and BAS data analysis. Familiarity with ASHRAE Guidelines and industry commissioning standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with clients, contractors, and internal teams. Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines. Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other technical environments. Ability to lift and carry tools or equipment up to 25 pounds. Willingness to complete OSHA training (provided to new hires). Professional certification such as EIT, PE, CEM, EBCP, or BCxP is preferred. Experience with project management and client-facing roles is preferred. Knowledge of building energy codes, sustainability certifications, and green building practices is preferred. Location: Chicago, IL Salary: $80,000.00–$100,000.00 per year
