Environmental Engineer – Site Investigation and Remediation

VHB's is looking to hire an Environmental Engineer in its growing Site Investigation & Remediation team, the role could be based in either our Boston, MA or Providence, RI office. Responsibilities
Work in team environment managing multiple projects concurrently across varying stages of development.
Guide, support, and mentor junior engineers on engineering designs, soil/groundwater/soil vapor remediation designs, field procedures, monitoring well installation, construction oversight, and more.
Draft proposals, develop budgets, review invoices, and maintain clear, effective communication with clients.
Develop comprehensive remedial plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, and cost assessments. Design remedial systems for groundwater treatment, vapor intrusion mitigation, and related challenges.
Author, review, and QC technical documents.
Manage time appropriately to produce high-quality products for VHB’s clients.
Qualifications
Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of the MassDEP environmental regulations and related guidance documents pertaining to spill assessment and cleanup, hazardous waste, etc. Experience working in other New England states is a plus.
Interest or experience in SPCC Plan review, sub-slab depressurization system (SSDS) design, and applicable regulations is a plus.
Highly motivated with strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate exemplary writing skills and the ability to perform detailed reviews of documents prepared by others. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that high-quality reports are provided to senior staff for review.
Active involvement in professional organizations and a commitment to continuous professional education to stay ahead of industry regulations and best practices.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred.
5-8 years’ experience in environmental/remediation consulting.
EIT license and/or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certificate with a current 8-hour HAZWOPER Refresher.
