Responsibilities

Program Oversight: Oversee and evaluate the comprehensive Infection Prevention/Control program for the assigned facility.

Risk Assessment & Reduction: Conduct thorough risk assessments, develop and implement effective risk reduction strategies for infectious disease transmission, construction/renovation projects, water/air events, and other potential hazards.

Surveillance & Analysis: Conduct hospital-acquired infection surveillance, monitor significant organisms (including emerging pathogens), analyze trends and risk factors, and develop targeted prevention and control tactics.

Environment of Care: Conduct environment of care surveillance to ensure a safe and clean healthcare environment.

Education & Training: Develop and deliver engaging education and training programs for staff, volunteers, students, and visitors on infection prevention best practices.

Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of notifiable diseases for inpatients and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines.

Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate effectively with managers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to implement proactive preventative and corrective action plans.

Strategic Planning: Research and develop a comprehensive annual risk assessment for the assigned facility, prioritizing risks, evaluating past performance, and creating a future plan with measurable goals.

Change Management: Utilize strong change management skills to promote the adoption of EMR technologies and support the transition to new healthcare delivery systems.

Committee Participation: Actively participate in relevant internal/external committees and work groups to advance infection prevention initiatives.

Qualifications Education/Work Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, medical technology program, or other healthcare related field, and five years of recent related healthcare work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, and five years of recent related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

Master’s degree in a related discipline may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

In Nursing: Current licensure by the Washington State Nursing Commission, OR

Other Qualifying Degree: National Registration as an MLS (ASCP); Certification with the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist; Certification in Infection Control (CBIC); Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA); Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRST); Certified Board of Infection Control

Pay Range $52.15 - $77.58 /hour
