Senior Oracle Financial Systems Architect - Accounting Technology

The Controllership pillar under the CFO leads guidance for finance and accounting technology initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of finance and technology, with a strong foundation in accounting processes and a passion for automation and innovation. You will collaborate with Revenue Accounting, Corporate Accounting, and Technical Accounting teams to understand roadmaps, identify automation opportunities, and design sustainable, scalable solutions across Oracle Fusion and integrated systems. Youll serve as a bridge between accounting, product, systems, and engineeringbringing strategic thinking and hands-on execution to help Block scale its financial systems in line with company growth. This role will also support close acceleration and Record-to-Report (R2R) transformation initiatives, partnering with accounting and technology teams to implement changes from the transformation roadmap, including data flow optimization, automation of journal entries, intercompany enhancements, and the use of AI for reconciliations and reporting. A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions aligned to Blocks growth and compliance needs. You Will System Design & Implementation Lead initiatives to transform manual accounting processes using Oracle Fusion Finance, FAH (Fusion Accounting Hub), and automation tools. Partner with the integrations team to define data mapping, technical designs, and scalable solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement transformation-driven enhancements across revenue, expenses, intercompany, and reconciliation processes. Support efforts to shorten the financial close timeline by automating journal entries, data collection, and rule-based logic. Strong ability to create clear, scalable, and well-structured design documents that translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions.

Collaboration & Partnership

Partner with accounting teams to understand roadmaps and ensure systems are ready for product launches, compliance changes, and reporting needs. Operate within a product management-style model, working closely with TPMs and cross-functional leads across Finance, Engineering, and IT.

Technical Innovation & Automation

Use AI, REST APIs, Python, and scripting to eliminate manual accounting tasks and streamline reporting. Explore GenAI and ML for auto-reconciliations, flux reporting, and anomaly detection.

Governance & Compliance

Collaborate with audit teams to ensure systems and workflows are SOX-compliant and meet internal control requirements. Support statutory reporting for international entities and ensure alignment with US GAAP and other regulatory frameworks.

You Have

10+ years of experience in financial systems, with deep expertise in Oracle Fusion, Fusion Accounting Hub (FAH), and accounting automation Strong understanding of Revenue recognition (including ASC 606), Intercompany accounting, Allocations, Multi-level consolidations Solid knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS reporting requirements for global entities Exposure to statutory reporting for international entities and multi-GAAP environments Experience working cross-functionally with Accounting, Audit, Engineering, and Data teams Familiarity with Subledger-to-GL data flows, Business process configurations and Oracle Fusion best practices Ability to translate complex system behavior into actionable insights for accounting stakeholders Proven ability to connect systems end-to-end and drive transformation projects from concept to delivery Demonstrated impact in close acceleration or financial transformation initiatives (e.g., reducing close timelines, automating reconciliations, modernizing intercompany workflows) A passion for continuous learning and a growth-oriented mindsetcomfortable stepping outside fixed role definitions Natural curiosity about finance technology, with a desire to stay current on ERP features, updates, and close optimization best practices

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with EPM tools, Blackline, EDM, or other modern accounting solutions. Comfort working hands-on with Python scripts, REST APIs, and exploring new SaaS functionalities. Experience with Slack bots, automation templates, or other tools used for financial workflow automation
