The Land Trust of Napa County seeks a dynamic, experienced leader to steward an established, successful organization as it continues to protect Napa’s extraordinary landscapes, ensures the perpetual care of protected lands, and connects a strong network of partnerships for lasting conservation impact.
The Land Trust has been dedicated to protecting Napa County's natural and agricultural heritage since 1976 by collaborating with landowners and the community. Its efforts focus on safeguarding farmland, habitats, and water resources while actively stewarding our owned lands to enhance biodiversity and ecological health for future generations.
Responsibilities The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Land Trust of Napa County will lead a national-calibre conservation organization with a dedicated expert team, an engaged board, strong philanthropic support, and solid financial reserves. The CEO will build on a legacy of success and financial stability, overseeing critical conservation initiatives through strategic easements, acquisitions, partnerships, and ongoing stewardship. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will ensure the responsible management of irreplaceable properties.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in advancing conservation goals, inspiring trust, mobilizing resources, and empowering others to succeed. The position requires a strategic thinker, effective fundraiser, and influential communicator who can leverage organizational strengths to transform ambitious ideas into measurable outcomes and foster enduring conservation impact. Extensive experience in leading mission-driven organizations through growth and transition is essential, along with a commitment to championing the natural beauty of Napa County.
Compensation This is a full-time, exempt position. The anticipated starting salary for this position is $290,000 - $320,000, commensurate with experience. The Land Trust provides generous benefits for full-time employees, including leave, insurance, and retirement.
Location This position is primarily based at the Land Trust’s main office in Napa, California. Some travel in Napa County and beyond is required. The position involves overseeing a team that utilizes a hybrid work model.
