Overview Director - Operational Excellence

Purpose:

The Director of Operational Excellence will have responsibility to architect and deploy the Lean Business Operating System across the Jacksonville manufacturing plant. This role will have 4 direct reports and directly support the Lean Transformation of a $1.5B revenue site. This is an exciting opportunity to create and implement a groundbreaking process that will transform the operational landscape at Johnson & Johnson.

Key Responsibilities

Developing the Lean Business Operating System and overall strategy for transforming the organization, including strategy deployment, tools, implementation, and training.

Leading the site Operational Excellence team and site leadership team through a process to systematically find opportunities to enhance operational performance and site business processes through internal/external benchmarking and continuous improvement tools.

Aligning strategy with tactics for Lean deployment initiatives (Lean Roadmap).

Utilizing data, best practices, and prior Lean deployment experience to identify performance gaps and collaborate with local leaders to develop and execute improvement plans.

Facilitating impactful improvements through utilization of continuous improvement tools, Kaizen funnel processes, and systems to enhance plant safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and reduce waste.

Creating Lean competencies in leaders and employees at all levels; identifying future Lean talent and coaching for career advancement opportunities.

Identifying new product processes for appropriate Operational Excellence and Lean tool application.

Understanding and applying financial drivers and key performance indicators.

Qualifications Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced degree preferred.

Lean Six Sigma Certification from an industry recognized program.

10+ years of proven leadership skills and experience deploying an operating system for a multi-functional, highly automated, and complex supply chain manufacturing site.

5+ years of direct people leader experience in a multi-functional organization.

Experience with implementing Strategy Deployment/Hoshin across a business or for a division.

Expert knowledge of Lean Methodology and implementing Lean tools, including but not limited to: Visual Management, Daily Management, Transactional Process Improvement, Standard Work/Leader Standard Work, Problem Solving, 6S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 8 wastes, Gemba walks, etc.

Strong business and financial acumen.

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to transparently communicate and relate to people at all levels of the organization.

Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and present findings.

Demonstrated ability to model corporate values and principles, including instilling a high performance, people-driven culture.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and general computer skills.

Travel up to 20% of the time domestically and/or internationally is required
