Fleet Maintenance Operations Manager

The Ops Manager must be able to accomplish results through direct involvement and limited delegation of work and responsibilities, thus ensuring business objectives and labor requirements are met. The Ops Manager is responsible for ensuring the customer\'s needs are being met while balancing financial, operating, quality, safety and asset targets against the requirements of the business measured through leadership competencies and business metrics. This position is responsible for managing the location(s) performance against metrics to meet and/or exceed assigned objectives and ensuring compliance with key company processes, Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Repair Practices. All Ryder shop positions require adherence to Ryder Maintenance Operations policies and procedures. The role may offer development opportunities to prepare incumbents for the Senior Operations Manager role, based on performance. Ryder emphasizes internal career growth and promotion from within.

Responsibilities
Operations Management: Execute work analysis, vehicle planning and scheduling, assign work to technicians, track productivity, conduct shift and shop meetings, and review/approve RO. Directly involved in Labor Planning by evaluating incoming work and allocating resources, balancing shift schedules, and leveling workload to maximize efficiency and productivity. Optimize labor at the shop and the mix of straight time, OT and Outside Repair. Optimize shift patterns to match qualified tech hours with equipment availability based on customer operating hours. Oversee the execution of the Automated Planning System (APS).
Labor Management: Manage and develop personnel; performance management; implement Technical Training Plan with the Field Training Team; prioritize TOPS plan based on breakdown trends and running costs; recruit, hire, onboard, payroll, and succession planning.
Customer Management: Maintain customer relationships, resolve issues, ensure uptime, follow customer communication protocol, optimize vehicle maintenance cycle time, and meet Delivered in Time Promised objectives; collaborate with Sales to develop service requirements; conduct customer visits and annual reviews as required.
Financial Management: Implement cost controls for maintenance operations budget and P&L; execute Maintenance Initiatives to meet financial targets; optimize net maintenance cost per unit; ensure invoices and outsourced work quality; manage payroll, POs, invoicing, fuel reconciliation; manage bill-back and warranty processes; ensure data integrity in Shop Management Online system.
Asset Management: Direct maintenance of shop location assets; maintain 6S standards; manage shop tooling, equipment; manage vehicle specifications and in-service/out-service; oversee parts inventory; coordinate PMs with Rental and asset readiness; manage VMI and wash log.
Quality Management: Conduct quality inspections of PMs and repairs; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions; maintain safety and regulatory compliance; ensure documentation for local/state/federal/customer requirements; maintain safe workplace and cleanliness; ensure safe repair quality; comply with safety, state and EPA regulations.

Skills And Abilities
Proven ability to manage and develop teams, delegate effectively, and oversee work.
Understanding of labor, financial, quality, safety and asset processes and metrics.
Strong personal accountability and track record of achieving results.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to pull data from reporting systems for analysis (preferred).
Experience with Fleet Management Software (preferred); shop environment maintenance/technical experience (preferred).
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
Associate\'s degree preferred; Bachelor\'s degree preferred.
Three+ years of experience in an operations environment or demonstrated success in a Ryder role required.
One to two+ years supervisory experience required.
Travel: 1-10%
