Executive Director MashUp Contemporary Dance Company is seeking a Full-Time Executive Director (ED). A strategic thinker and self-starter, the ED is responsible for the company’s operational, administrative, financial, and fundraising strategy. Collaborating closely with the company’s Artistic Leadership, Board of Directors, and Creative Producer, this individual will support MashUp’s three annual programs (International Women's Day Dance Festival, National Women’s Equality Day Residency Program, Quarterly Choreography Open Mic Nights), as well as any special projects or new initiatives. Specific responsibilities include:
Management
Execute day-to-day company operations including email correspondence, grant management, budget creation and management, financial reporting, bookkeeping support, HR/Payroll, and all legal compliance. Set internal priorities, expectations, and deadlines. Serve as the driving force behind the administrative team
Liaise with the Board of Directors; cultivate new Members as needed; prepare required materials for quarterly Board meetings
Supervise MashUp’s part-time Creative Producer, interns, administrative and production contractors; serve as point person for all personnel
Support the Creative producer in negotiation, drafting, and approval of contracts for creative collaborators, administrative personnel, other contractors, venues, and programming partners
Maintain and create organizational systems and best practices to ensure sustainability and efficiency
Network and advocate on behalf of MashUp within the local dance community and the broader Los Angeles area
Generate organizational and project-specific budgets in alignment with MashUp programming and overarching goals
Track finances in real-time to ensure accuracy and fiscally responsible choices; manage cash-flow to ensure payroll needs are met and expenses are covered
Oversee grant research and guide submission process with Creative Producer and Creative Council to appropriate funding opportunities; compile creative input, written narratives, budget, and supplemental materials for submission, as well as complete mid-year & final reports, tracking grant-related activities throughout the cycle
Spearhead MashUp’s individual donor fundraising efforts; expand donor base, maintain donor relationships, track donor data, increase year-round individual fundraising including annual fundraisers, expand monthly donor group, and steward larger gifts
Programming
Set and manage each project budget in alignment with the company’s overarching financial goals, collaborating with the Creative Council and Creative Producer
Work with Artistic leadership, Creative Producer, and Board of Directors to evaluate current programming, develop strategic partnerships, and expand MashUp’s visibility
Overarching Expectations
Act as a spokesperson for the organization's mission
Expand key partnerships with sponsors, donors, granting organizations, partners, artists, and community leaders
Attend workshops and professional development opportunities on behalf of the company
Maintain an organized office at the company’s home studio: The Pickle Factory in Frogtown.
Qualifications
At least 3 years experience in Non-Profit Arts Management and Fundraising, preferably within an Executive Director Role
Strong written and oral communication and networking skills, as well as experience building and maintaining donor and funder relationships
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Residence in Los Angeles area is preferred
Schedule Full-Time Position at 40 hours/week working both remotely as well as in office
Salary Compensation will commensurate with experience. Range: $85K-$90K, annually. Health insurance stipend paid out monthly, PTO, and vacation.
