620 Jones is a hidden jewel of San Francisco. With over 15 years of business , 620 Jones has played a pivotal role in supporting arts, good times, fabulous cocktails and delicious food for the surrounding community and San Francisco at large.
We’re looking for an experienced Bar Manager to captain our beverage program and help lead this San Francisco institution. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years managerial experience in the bar/beverage industry. Candidates must have:
Deep knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, and bar trends
Strong leadership and team-building skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to multitask and remain cool under pressure
Open availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
The Bar Manager is a key member of the Jones Team. You will help run the show with support from the Managing Partners, Kitchen Manager, Special Event Director and our Corporate Event Manager. We aim to create a one of a kind guest experience and you are directly responsible for that goal.
Roles and Responsibilities Beverage Program Management
Leads efforts to hire and train bartenders
Allocate resources as needed
Coaches staff—critiquing their work and recognizing great performance—during every shift
Ensure that restaurant is running smoothly, drink quality is upheld, the appropriate aesthetics (instagram-able drinks) are maintained and service level is on point.
Participate in the day-to-day planning of business. Drive execution towards costs and sales targets
Collaborate with the kitchen team to curate and refine menu offerings
Events
Supervise and coordinate all beverage aspects of event production including, but not limited to marketing, additional staffing, menus, aesthetics and finance
Service
Builds relationships with staff, vendors, and guests
Demonstrates effective salesmanship while on the floor. Teaches salesmanship to floor staff
Assist in managing/troubleshooting the POS system and training users
Work 2-3 closing floor manager shifts per week.
Opening and Closing Procedures
Keep current opening and closing procedures
Ensure staff are trained on opening and closing procedures
Finance/ Cash Control
Manage inventory, ordering and vendor relationships to ensure efficient cost of goods management
Drive profitability by analyzing financial reports, managing budgets and controlling costs
