Overview
Zurich North America is seeking an
Actuary
to join the Large Casualty and Large Property Reserving team. This role will be based out of one of our main offices (Schaumburg Headquarters, Chicago, New York City, or Toronto). The position offers a hybrid schedule with in‑office and remote work, and you will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you and the team.
Responsibilities
Conduct quarterly premium and loss reserve analyses to inform quarterly financial results, including IFRS 17 components of discount and risk adjustment.
Assist in the preparation of materials for the quarterly reserve governance committee.
Ensure loss reserves and IFRS 17 components are reflected in the financial close.
Perform loss ratio planning and forecasting, including IFRS 17 elements.
Collaborate regularly with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Pricing to develop insights on trends and emerging issues on the insurance portfolios.
Engage and align with Pricing colleagues on loss ratios.
Communicate reserve recommendations with financial impacts and insights to management within Actuarial, Finance, and Underwriting.
Basic Qualifications
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate's Degree OR
Bachelor's Degree AND
5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification OR
10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation and Benefits At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The proposed salary range for this position is $130,000.00 – $213,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. The salary ranges are for US based positions only.
