Overview Hilltop Residential is seeking a highly motivated

Director of Business Development - Texas . As we expand our third-party management services, we are looking for a strategic and relationship-driven leader to grow our portfolio through new client acquisition and industry partnerships. The Director of Business Development - Texas will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new third-party management contracts. This role focuses on building relationships with property owners, developers, lenders, and institutional investors to expand our third-party management footprint. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the multifamily real estate industry, experience in client acquisition, and a proven ability to convert leads into long-term partnerships.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to grow the third-party management platform.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, industry research, and relationship building with owners, developers, brokers, lenders, REITs, private equity groups, and other potential partners.

Manage the full business development cycle, including lead generation, proposal creation, contract negotiation, and client onboarding.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships within the multifamily housing communities to generate new business and enhance market presence.

Collaborate with internal teams—including operations, asset management, marketing, and finance—to align on business development goals and deliver tailored presentations.

Represent Hilltop Residential at industry events, conferences, and meetings to increase brand awareness and engage with prospective clients.

Track, report, and analyze business development metrics, providing regular updates to leadership on pipeline progress, obstacles, and resource needs.

Ensure a smooth transition of new clients to the operations team, maintaining strong communication throughout the onboarding process.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, or a related field;

3–5 years of experience in multifamily real estate, with at least 3 years focused on business development, client services, or third-party management.

Strong knowledge of multifamily operations, ownership structures, and industry standards.

Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial data, pro formas, lease agreements, RFPs, and related documents.

Exceptional analytical, critical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

Strong research, due diligence, and project management capabilities.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable engaging with senior executives, investors, and partners.

Self-starter with a team-oriented mindset and strong time management skills.

Familiarity with joint venture agreements and loan documents preferred.

Experience with market research tools such as RealPage, Entrata and/or Yardi is a plus.

Willingness to travel regionally as needed.
