The CFO role will be based in Jacksonville, FL and will oversee all financial operations for a growing commercial auto insurance company. This role is responsible for ensuring the financial health, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth through leadership in financial reporting, reinsurance management, billing operations, budgeting, planning, financial analysis, and credit risk assessment.
Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP, statutory insurance accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Lead quarterly and annual statutory filings to state insurance departments and other regulatory bodies.
Manage relationships with auditors and corporate departments.
Reinsurance Management
Develop and execute the company’s reinsurance strategy to optimize risk transfer and capital efficiency.
Oversee reinsurance accounting, and reporting.
Monitor reinsurance recoverables and ensure timely settlement.
Billing & Collections
Direct billing operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
Implement policies and controls to optimize premium collection and reduce delinquencies.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
Lead the annual budgeting process, including revenue and expense forecasts.
Provide multi-year financial projections to support corporate strategy and growth initiatives.
Monitor actual results against budget, providing actionable variance analysis to leadership.
Financial Analysis & Strategy
Deliver data-driven insights to improve underwriting profitability, claims cost control, and operational efficiency.
Evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and expansion initiatives from a financial perspective.
Credit Review & Risk Management
Oversee credit risk assessments for policyholders.
Monitor the company’s overall risk exposure, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance
CPA Preferred
20+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in the property & casualty insurance industry, with at least 5 years at the executive level.
Strong understanding of statutory insurance accounting, NAIC reporting requirements, and reinsurance practices.
Proven ability to manage budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning processes.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Experience working with auditors, and reinsurance partners.
Previous large scale operational and project management experience
