Director of Quality Assurance , you will serve as a key member of the San Antonio leadership team, responsible for leading and managing the Quality Assurance (QA) program across all aviation operations. This role ensures strict adherence to FAA regulations, DCMA, AS9100/ISO standards, customer requirements, and internal quality systems. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in aviation QA/QC, strong leadership capabilities, and a forward-thinking approach to risk mitigation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with FAA, EASA, DCMA and other regulatory authority requirements.

Serve as the primary liaison with aviation regulatory bodies during audits, inspections, and certification processes.

Oversee and approve internal and external audit programs to ensure ongoing compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards.

Audit the effectiveness and compliance of inspection, monitoring, and testing of aircraft, components, parts, and processes to ensure conformance to specifications and airworthiness.

Establish and track key quality performance indicators (KPIs), and report findings to executive leadership.

Investigate and resolve product and process non-conformances, customer complaints, and regulatory issues.

Ensure that quality training programs are in place for all employees impacting product or maintenance quality.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Support engineering, production, maintenance, and supply chain teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout the lifecycle of aircraft engines and components.

Evaluate and manage supplier quality programs, including qualification, audits, and performance reviews.

Manage budget and resources for the Quality Assurance department.

Carries out other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of progressive quality assurance experience in the aviation or aerospace industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Proven experience with FAA Part 145, Part 21, Part 135 and DCMA operations.

Extensive knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and other applicable quality standards.

Experience managing audits, regulatory inspections, and quality investigations.

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, Quality Assurance, or related field or equivalent experience.

Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ASQ CQE, FAA certifications) preferred.

Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in quality management tools and systems.

Preferred Certifications

FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE)

Lead Auditor Certification (ISO 9001, AS9100)
