Senior Market Research Manager

to temporarily fill in for a team member on leave. This contractor role is ideal for a seasoned insights professional who can quickly integrate into a fast-paced environment and drive high-impact research initiatives that inform business decisions. Details

Purpose of the Team:

The team is a

centralized market research group within marketing , specifically focused on consumer research to support the Microsoft 365 consumer subscription business. Key Projects:

Managing and

executing market research projects

that inform business decisions for

Microsoft 365 consumer subscriptions , working closely with business partners and research agencies. Task Breakdown & Operating Rhythm:

Scoping research, engaging with agencies, executing research projects, collaborating with internal teams, and ensuring research deliverables address business needs. Independence and collaboration are both emphasized. What makes this role interesting?

Success is measured by the delivery of impactful research outputs that address business needs and build on collective knowledge. Lead

end-to-end market research projects, including scoping, methodology design, vendor management, and insight delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, marketing, strategy) to identify research needs and translate business questions into actionable studies. Analyze both

qualitative and quantitative data

to uncover trends, customer behaviors, and market opportunities. Synthesize findings into compelling narratives and present insights to senior stakeholders. Manage external research partners and ensure

timely, high-quality deliverables . Maintain and evolve research best practices, tools, and frameworks. Qualifications

Years of Experience Required:

7+ years of hands-on market research experience, preferably with some client-side background. Degrees or Certifications:

None required. Disqualifiers:

Candidates with only engineering research or UX design research backgrounds, or those lacking

primary (custom) research experience

(both qualitative and quantitative), are not a fit. Best vs. Average:

Top candidates will have direct

market research experience in technology or subscription consumer spaces , be proactive, independent, and collaborative. Average candidates may lack relevant industry experience or the ability to work closely with teams. Ability & Skills:

Strong background in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies . Excellent

communication and storytelling skills . Experience working with cross-functional teams in a corporate or agency setting. Additional Experience:

7+ years of experience in

market research, consumer insights, or a related field , with

hands-on primary research . Required Hard Skills

Hands-on Market Research Experience (7+ years):

Must include primary research (custom, not just syndicated), both qualitative and quantitative. Project Management Experience:

Ability to independently scope, manage, and deliver research projects. Experience in Technology/Subscription Consumer Space:

Direct experience in relevant industries is preferred over general consumer packaged goods backgrounds. Experience in Technology: Familiarity with Agile Research Methods:
