Position Summary The ideal
Project Engineer
will support the successful delivery of heavy civil construction projects by assisting in planning, coordination, and execution activities. This candidate will bring a solid foundation in infrastructure construction and play a key role in scheduling, documentation, cost tracking, and subcontractor coordination. With strong technical knowledge and attention to detail, the Project Engineer will contribute to timely and compliant project outcomes. This position offers a clear path to Project Manager for those seeking long-term growth in the heavy civil industry.
Key Responsibilities
Support project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
Assist with submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract administration.
Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to coordinate field operations.
Monitor project budgets, cost control, and forecasting to maintain financial performance.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality control regulations.
Review engineering plans, specifications, and shop drawings for accuracy and constructability.
Assist in procurement and materials management to support construction activities.
Perform site visits and field inspections to track progress and resolve technical challenges.
Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
Qualifications / Preference
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
3-6+ years of experience in heavy civil infrastructure construction.
Strong knowledge of contract administration, scheduling (Primavera P6), and cost tracking.
Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS HeavyBid).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with project teams.
Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
