Overview
Cepheid is seeking a Counsel for Product and Advanced Technologies to support the Cepheid Legal and Compliance team. This remote US role partners across clinical, medical affairs, marketing, finance, business development, business operations and sales to negotiate, draft and review a broad range of agreements related to software and hardware development, data sharing, collaboration and AI driven or digital products. This position is part of the Cepheid Legal Department and is remote. Responsibilities
Partner with data transformation, product and commercial teams on complex legal matters relating to software and hardware development and collaborate with business and subject matter experts for recommendations on compliant paths forward. Draft and negotiate a wide range of complex legal contracts including data sharing agreements, collaboration and AI agreements, and customer and vendor agreements to drive new initiatives with research partners and enterprise customers. Provide legal advice to technology product and commercial teams to develop and launch innovative data and digital products and solutions. Develop and improve contractual templates, policies and procedures related to advanced technology and digital products. Stay current on applicable laws and industry guidance especially regarding AI, security, healthcare, medical devices and share knowledge across Cepheid Legal and Compliance. Qualifications
JD degree from an accredited US law school and active bar membership in good standing. A minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department. Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience. Preferred experience
Transactions or litigation experience in the medical diagnostics or healthcare industry. Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating data sharing, collaboration, AI and customer and vendor agreements; plus experience in advanced technology or software product development including digital products and AI ML technologies. Remote work and compensation
The role is remote and Cepheid supports flexible, remote working arrangements for eligible roles. Salary range is $150,000 to $180,000 per year, with potential bonus or incentive pay. This range is a good faith estimate at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. Benefits and disclosures
