About the Company Octave Bioscience is at the forefront of precision care, delivering data-driven insights for neurodegenerative diseases, starting with multiple sclerosis (MS). We’re on a mission to transform clinical decision-making through predictive analytics and biomarker intelligence. We’re expanding our finance team to include a Senior Manager, Accounting.
About the Role We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Manager, Accounting with a strong growth mindset to lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This high-impact role focuses on strengthening the month-end close, improving processes, and partnering across teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. This position thrives in a fast-paced environment, solving complex problems and building meaningful partnerships across Finance and shared services.
Responsibilities
Monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
Own payroll and equity reporting partnering alongside HR
Monthly revenue reporting on partnership projects and direct billing for MSDA services
Influence and drive process improvements and efficiencies for growth
Oversee third party accounting team
Prepare accounting memos on complex transactions such as new leases, debt refinancing, grant income and new partnership agreements
Maintain debt compliance reporting, lead the external audit process, assist in system implementations
Manage compliance activities such as state taxes, business licenses and various business surveys
Qualifications
8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (CPA required)
Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls
Proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, evolving environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
Preferred Skills
Experience in a high-growth or tech-forward environment
Interest in or experience applying AI tools to accounting workflows
Familiarity with accounting systems like Netsuite, Floqast, and spend management systems (e.g. Certify and Rippling Spend Management)
Salary Range Base salary: $165K - $185K + Bonus + Equity + Benefits. The starting base salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions.
