Optical DSP Chief Architect
to lead the design and system architecture of next-generation
Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
solutions for high-speed optical communication systems ( 800G/1.6T
and beyond). This leader will define and optimize system architecture and collaborate across engineering teams to deliver industry-leading optical transceivers and communication ASICs. Location: Austin, TX. Full-time.
Key Responsibilities
Define the system architecture for high-speed optical DSP chips.
Develop and optimize DSP algorithms (equalization, clock/data recovery, FEC, etc.).
Partner with hardware, firmware, and chip architecture teams to improve power, performance, and area (PPA).
Perform system-level modeling and simulation (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++).
Collaborate with RF and photonics teams to align DSP and optical front-end designs.
Establish key performance metrics, validation strategies, and testing methodologies.
Interface with customers and industry partners to align architecture with market demands.
Stay abreast of advancements in semiconductor, optical, and DSP technologies.
Required Qualifications
Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 10-15+ years in DSP algorithm development, system architecture, and ASIC design.
Strong expertise in digital signal processing, communication theory, and error correction codes.
Experience with MATLAB, Python, or C/C++ for algorithm design and system simulation.
Understanding of ASIC design, SerDes, Client/DAC, and mixed-signal interfaces.
Familiarity with optical modulation, coherent transmission, and OIF standards.
Preferred Skills
Strong leadership & communication skills; able to lead cross-functional technical teams.
Experience with photonic ICs and co-design with DSP.
Hands-on experience with real-time embedded DSP implementations.
Track record of delivering high-performance commercial DSP systems.
Must-Haves
On-site availability in Austin, TX (5 days/week).
10+ years of relevant experience in optical DSP & ASIC system architecture.
