Overview
Vice President, AACU Information Security and IT Operations. This role, within the American Airlines Federal Credit Union, leads enterprise information security, IT service management, and application support, ensuring a secure, efficient, and reliable IT environment that aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Information Security Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise information security strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements Lead all cybersecurity policies, frameworks, and incident response initiatives Establish and oversee security controls, compliance programs (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS), and audit processes Develop security strategy, including SIEM, endpoint protection, IAM, and cloud security solutions Act as the primary liaison for security-related audits, legal matters, and board reporting Lead security operations, vulnerability management, threat detection, and response efforts to proactively mitigate risks
IT Operations & Service Management
Oversee Application Support, IT Helpdesk, and Service Desk operations to ensure high availability, performance, and end-user satisfaction Implement and optimize ITIL best practices for incident, problem, change, and asset management Enhance IT service management frameworks to ensure efficiency in ticket resolution, escalation processes, and user support Lead application support teams to ensure system reliability, maintenance, and continuous improvement Partner with business units to improve IT operational efficiency and innovation while maintaining cost-effectiveness Drive digital transformation initiatives related to ITSM, automation, and operational enhancements Manage IT vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement for security and operational technology solutions
Leadership & Strategy
Provide strong leadership to a team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising security or performance Serve as an advisor to the SVP Technology on security and IT operational matters Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices to continuously evolve the organizations IT capabilities Represent the IT operations and information security function in board meetings, executive discussions, and cross-functional committees Participate in strategic planning and business alignment initiatives Perform other duties as assigned
Compliance & Risk The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information and for ensuring that work is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
Qualifications
All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelors degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Business, or a related field 10+ years of leadership experience in IT Operations and Information Security with a proven track record of success Deep expertise in cybersecurity frameworks, regulatory compliance, and risk management Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and application support Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools, IT operations platforms, and service desk management software Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale IT initiatives
Preferred Qualifications Education & Prior Job Experience
Masters degree in a subject area relevant to the role Experience implementing and administrating an information security program Experience with financial services industry, credit unions departments, products and systems Technical experience to include desktop (client side), telecommunications, data center storage, virtualization, routing/switching, server, and security technologies
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills & presentation skills Ability to demonstrate superior people management, interpersonal and employee engagement skills, to include directing, coaching, counseling and motivating staff Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement, user satisfaction, and adherence to standards Ability to communicate complex security and IT concepts to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders Ability to demonstrate a strong business acumen and decision-making capabilities Skilled in leading, managing, developing and motivating a team Ability to be highly efficient, organized and motivated and have the ability to lead multiple assignments concurrently Ability to demonstrate abstract reasoning, critical thinking and problem resolution skills Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks
