is seeking a skilled Data Scientist to drive innovation through Generative AI. In this role, you will apply your expertise in generative AI models (text and image) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods to develop and deploy solutions that address critical business needs. You will work closely with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions. This position is part of our Small Commercial Data Science team, focusing on GenAI, cloud services, and established NLP techniques to tackle key business challenges. Location: Charlotte, NC. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet requirements Work with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing business processes and systems Design and build GenAI solutions for tasks such as summarization, prompt enhancement, classification, etc. Prototype AI solutions using technologies such as VertexAI, Google Agent Development (ADK) framework, Google Cloud Natural Language API and RAG frameworks to address business problems Develop evaluation pipelines for GenAI outputs using automatic metrics, human feedback, and LLM as a judge Develop and maintain models using a variety of machine learning algorithms and deep learning techniques Conduct thorough analysis and testing of AI solutions to ensure their accuracy, reliability, and performance Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement Requirements
Masters in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field 5+ years of experience in data science and AI development Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or SQL Experience with cloud-based platforms - GCP preferred Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and deep learning techniques Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions Experience with GenAI and traditional AI solutions development Preferred Qualifications
Experience with commercial insurance domain and regulatory requirements Certification in GenAI, machine learning, or Google Cloud GenAI (multi-modal) validation: involve subject matter experts, domain specialists, and end-users in the validation process to assess quality, accuracy, and relevance of the GenAI outputs Implement end-to-end pipeline that captures scores including but not limited to BertScore, BLEURT, etc. to assess golden data sets at different stages of development and deployment Experience with end-to-end deployment of GenAI solutions Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position. Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $110,720 - $166,080 The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
