We innovate at the intersection of customer experience, deep learning, and high-scale machine-learning systems. We are looking for Applied Scientists who love big data and are capable of inventing and applying machine learning, natural language processing, image processing, data mining, classification and clustering techniques to solve real-world problems and build novel customer-facing innovations on Amazon. Our applied scientists work closely with software engineers to put algorithms into practice and partner with teams across Amazon to create enormous benefits for our customers. As a member of the Amazon Interest team, you will identify customers\' unique hobbies and interests (e.g., running, biking, gardening) and build an alternate structure to the existing product catalog around these interests. You would then use this structured data to create immersive shopping experiences customers would love. You will move fast, exercise good judgment on what is worth exploring, and create simple, scalable solutions while identifying the right problem sets. You will be surrounded by thought-leaders in the Personalization space and will stay up to date with the latest academic research. Responsibilities
Identify customers' unique hobbies and interests and build an alternate structure to the catalog around these interests. Invent and apply Machine Learning, NLP, image processing, data mining, classification and clustering techniques to solve real-world problems and create customer-facing innovations. Collaborate with software engineers to deploy algorithms in practice and work with teams across Amazon to deliver substantial customer impact. Move fast, exercise good judgment on project scope, and develop simple, scalable solutions. Basic Qualifications
3+ years of building machine learning models for business applications. PhD with 4 years of applied research experience or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of applied research experience. Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language. Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning. Preferred Qualifications

The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market.
