Overview
RINA is recruiting for a Staff Engineer - Bridge Inspection to join its office in Cleveland or Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, or Houston, TX within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division. This is a hands-on role to inspect bridges and structures, contribute to design and load rating calculations, and produce detailed reports and drafts. Youll work closely with experienced engineers, gaining field and technical experience while progressing toward NBIS certification as a team leader. The role offers mentorship, diverse project exposure, and a clear path for professional growth in structural engineering. Key Accountabilities Perform field inspections to document current structural conditions and/or determine potential repair alternatives. Assist in preparing structural engineering computations, load ratings, and designs under the supervision of a licensed engineer. Utilize MicroStation and/or AutoCAD to develop engineering drawings. Assist in the compilation of project contract documents, including technical specifications, design calculation, material quantities, estimate of cost, and other construction documents. Review as-built drawings for existing structures to understand actual conditions prior to field inspections. Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly. Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule. Perform other duties associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil, Structural, or equivalent fields of study from an ABET accredited institution Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire date Entry-level bridge inspection or design experience preferred Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Additional Requirements
Valid driver's license 35% of local or regional travel (i.e., job sites) anticipated based on business need for the first year of employment
