The Family Place . Responsibilities

Welcome new clients into the shelter by giving facility tours, completing intake paperwork, explaining policies, and providing needed personal supplies. Offer residential clients consistent emotional support and crisis intervention using trauma-informed, nonjudgmental communication, demonstrating sensitivity and support to those in crisis. Monitor the facility—including security cameras—to ensure safety and quickly respond to any issues or emergencies. Collaborate with case managers to stay informed about client needs and provide updates via documentation, email, and/or verbal communication. Assist clients with daily life skills like healthy routines, organization, clean living skills, and time management. Monitor the resident advocate desk and help meet residents’ basic needs by distributing medication, toiletries, linens, and other essentials. Monitor the facility for safety and cleanliness; participate in light cleaning tasks and laundering shelter bedding. Provide transportation for residents in agency vehicles to and from appointments, meetings, or hospital as needed. Perform basic administrative tasks, including filing, incident report summaries, and managing intake and exit paperwork, and other duties deemed necessary for the well‑being of the agency. Keep system data and Client First data up to date, accurate, and input in a timely manner for reporting and tracking. Monitor and support volunteers, interns, and guides during your shift, as needed. Intervene in crisis situations, using approved methods to promote the safety of all residents. Communicate with supervisor and designated staff regarding pertinent client issues. Monitor supplies such as bedding, towels, pillows, etc.; prepare rooms for new clients. Assist with special events and activities during scheduled shift. Provide backup coverage to hotline phone calls, assess the level of client risk, and provide mental and emotional support through active listening, comforting words, and problem-solving. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, sociology or similar with 6 months of experience working in a residential facility, shelter, or similar environment. OR an Associate’s Degree and any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Texas Driver’s License and clear driving record. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

Knowledge of domestic violence and client trauma; skilled in Microsoft Office applications; skilled in verbal de-escalation and crisis management; ability to communicate in written and verbal formats; sensitivity to the language, economic, and cultural needs of clients; ability to safely drive a company vehicle to off-site locations and attend off-site meetings and events; maintains professional boundaries with clients at all times; protects client confidentiality; ability to work overtime when necessary to cover shifts. Mental and Physical Abilities:

Duties are usually performed seated with occasional standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required; lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs. Working Conditions:
