The ACNO has operational and functional responsibility for a group of patient care areas and/or special projects or initiatives. The ACNO will develop communication, knowledge, leadership, professionalism, and business skills necessary to advance to a CNO.Major Responsibilities:QualityAssists CNO in formulating policies/procedures which are consistent with recognized standards of professional practice and which reflect the intent of regulatory standards to maintain authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing services.Performs regular rounds on patients, families, employees, and physicians to enhance communication, ensure alignment, oversee operations, and foster an exceptional experience.Ensures continuous performance improvement initiatives are designed to measure and improve the quality of care delivered and are consistent with organization priorities.Ensures follow-up to patient complaints and occurrence reports is thorough and timely. This means it provides the highest level of care for pregnant and postpartum patients, especially those with serious or complex medical, surgical, or pregnancy-related conditions, including those at high risk formaternal morbidity or mortality. The center includes a95+ bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)with 30+ private rooms, 10+ rooms for very small babies, and 10+ beds for babies needing neurological care. It also has35+ labor, delivery, and recovery rooms, including Central Texas’ firstlow-intervention birthing suiteswith tubs. There are95+ postpartum beds,20+ antepartum beds, andCesarean section surgical suites. The facility offers24/7 neonatology coverage,OB/GYN hospitalists,maternal-fetal medicine specialists,lactation consultants, and amidwifery program. St. David's Surgical Hospital is part ofSt. David’s North Austin Medical Center and is the firstLevel 4 Epilepsy Centerin Central Texas for both adults and children. It has its own24-hour emergency department, amedical-surgical inpatient unit, and apediatric intensive care unit (PICU)for patients ages 17 and under. The hospital is staffed withpediatric emergency physicians,pediatric hospitalists,intensivists, and other specialists who are specially trained to care for children.
