Medical Technologist ASCP

Summary: The primary role of a Medical Technologist is to perform precise specimen analysis and report results accurately following established procedures. Responsible for recognizing deviation from expected results, analyzing and correcting problems using scientific principles. Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Responsibilities: -Assists with the training of new personnel in the duties and responsibilities in the laboratory -Assumes essential department functions as specified by the supervisor in her/his absence. -Continuously assesses work processes and makes suggestions to supervisor for improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and solve operational problems -Participates in the installation, validation and correlation of new technology -Participates in maintaining the department in technical readiness to meet the regulatory compliance standards for New York State, AABB, and any other regulatory agency inspecting the facility -Collects and evaluates data required for QA monitors. Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Completes QC Action Logs, preventative maintenance logs and pending lists daily. Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent -MT (ASCP) or equivalent -New York State Department of Education Licensure required Additional Information
