Job Summary: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the respiratory therapist acts as a professional member of the healthcare team by providing respiratory therapy services throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include providing therapeutic and rehabilitative procedures, diagnostic tests for patients with or at risk of cardiopulmonary abnormalities, collaborating with physicians and nurses to develop care plans, performing patient assessments, evaluating therapy effectiveness, and delegating activities as appropriate. The therapist may also serve as an in-charge and preceptor, and instruct staff and students in respiratory care procedures.
