Overview
The Next Stage Design Home Remodeling Specialist is responsible to perform remodeling / all around carpentry, maintenance, and repair work in residential homes by performing the activities and various field-based duties during the construction process for a selected set of projects in a manner that ensures professional behavior, a quality product, a satisfied client, a safe, neat, and clean job site and working environment.

- The Home Remodeling Specialist is required to have reliable transportation to and from area job sites, and provide their own tools.

- Ability to perform minor concrete repair.

Essential Duties
- ADMINISTRATIVE
- Log working hours and material purchases daily on BuilderTrend and use scheduling and other job related software as necessary.
- Contact the Project Manager daily and as necessary to communicate job schedule, status, and variables.
- Maintain appropriate and timely client communication / relationship while on the job, including handling client expectations, reporting the job’s progress, and informing the Project Manager of any necessary changes to project scope.
- Participate in training and education of new carpenters.
- Adequately maintain company provided electronic hardware and tools.
- Adequately maintain personal vehicle branded with company magnetic sign in a safe and clean condition per company policy.
- Attend and participate in bi-monthly Production Department meetings.
- PRE-CONSTRUCTION PHASE
- Examine job documentation and contract to ensure understanding of project’s scope and budget.
- Attend and actively participates in project package transfer activities as determined by Project Manager.
- Attend pre-construction walkthrough on assigned projects with Project Developer, Designer (if applies), and Project Manager.
- Develop rough and selected finish material list and edit as required.
- Arrange for pick up and deliver all non-special ordered material to job site as needed.
- Verify the delivery and good condition of all special ordered materials as needed.
- Order key materials for projects that involve technical and construction assessment (doors, windows, siding material, etc.).
- CONSTRUCTION PHASE TASKS
- The Home Remodeling Specialist takes leadership role on job sites working with and maintaining successful sub/vendor trade partner relationships and by monitoring sub-contractors working on the job as needed alongside Project Manager and Project Supervisor.
- Perform essential remodeling and repair work, including but not limited to:
- Demolition
- Caulking
- Drywall and plaster repair
- Basement and attic work, insulation work
- Roof patch and repair
- Door and window installation and replacement
- Porch and deck building and repair
- Preferred skills
- Carpentry including complex framing, electrical, plumbing and finish trim
- Miscellaneous electrical work
- Minor plumbing work
- Railing and fence work
- Flashing and door pans
- Siding installation and repair
- Minor concrete and masonry work
- Punch list items including occasional painting touch up, etc.
- Understand the need for and impact of change orders with the ability to inform the Project Manager of any unforeseen or potential change orders on the job.
- Ensure job site is clean and arrange removal of debris from jobsite and coordinate with driver for trash pick-up from job site when needed.
- Participate in final walk-through with Project Manager and develops a punch-list of any items which are not completed.
- Stand for inspections as needed on assigned projects.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 6 - 10 ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of drywall, roofing, sheet metal work, painting, insulation, minor concrete, and various other basic construction trades.
- Ability to take and pass the Lead Safe Certified and OSHA 10 Certification training.
- Basic to advanced working knowledge of framing, electrical and finish trim, and basic working knowledge of other trades.
- Working knowledge of construction procedures, codes, and standards.
- Ability to meet and conduct building inspections.
