We are seeking a motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and deployment of our cutting-edge technology. The Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, development, testing, and deployment of Nitricity's nitrogen fertilizer production systems. This position will involve working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, taking ownership of specific projects and contributing to all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept to implementation. The ideal candidate possesses a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles, a proven track record of practical application, a passion for sustainability, and a desire to contribute to a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or contribute significantly to the design and development of mechanical components and systems for nitrogen fertilizer production equipment, including:
    • Fluid handling systems (pumps, valves, piping)
    • Structural components and enclosures
    • Thermal management systems
    • Instrumentation and control systems
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designs, optimize performance, and ensure reliability.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation; including 3D models, detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain partners to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality of designs, providing technical guidance as needed.
  • Component selection based on requirements, availability and cost.
  • Plan and execute testing and validation of prototypes and finished products, including data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to mechanical systems, implementing effective solutions.
  • Lead or actively participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of engineering work, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and best practices in all engineering activities.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, mentoring junior engineers as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in design and documentation of mechanical systems for fabrication and manufacturing. Experience with ANSI Y14.5 standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and statics/dynamics.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Proven experience with engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools for documenting a complete product. Experience with BOM development and Engineering Change best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to independently address complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental responsibility.
  • Experience in the agricultural or chemical processing industry is a significant plus.

  • Salary: $110,000 - $122,000
