Primary Purpose of the Position:

Reporting operationally to the Accounting Manager Plant Operations and maintaining communication with the Niagara Falls Plant Controller and Chemical Finance Manager, this role is responsible for accounting, plant financial results, and internal controls at the Bayport and Niagara Falls plants. This includes assisting in monthly financial statement close, plant financial reporting, and maintaining effective internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and company policies. The position involves coordinating with Centralized Plant Accounting groups to complete routine monthly financial activities and managing local finance personnel to ensure timely completion. Additionally, the role partners with plant leadership and finance teams to achieve plant and finance goals and develop personnel.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in monthly/quarterly financial reporting, account reconciliations, and establishing judgmental reserve balances, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
• Maintain a robust internal control structure, ensure effective testing, and remediate gaps in accordance with SOX. Manage cycle count procedures over inventory, MRO, and spare parts.
• Support production cost information, plant investments, restructuring, and budget justification. Oversee standard cost setting and material cost analysis, including variance reconciliation and inventory results.
• Develop talent within the finance organization, ensuring performance management aligns with business metrics, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Summarize and communicate financial and operational results of the plants, oversee fixed assets activities, and manage asset disposal processes.

Education and Certification:

• Required: Undergraduate Degree in a business-related field (accounting, finance, economics, etc.)
• Desired: Advanced Degree (MBA) or certifications (CPA, CMA)

Experience:

• 5-10 years in accounting/analysis, with 3-5 years in a management role.
• 3-5 years experience with plant-level accounting and standard costing systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
• Leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (preferably SAP), MS Office, Hyperion.
• Ability to analyze situations quickly and create solutions.
