Job Description
- Req#: Routine work in the application of pesticides and herbicides to right-of-ways, canals, and drainage ditches to control plant and vegetation growth.
- Applies pesticides and herbicides to right-of-ways, canals and drainage ditches to control vegetation growth.
- Pulls tank-mounted trailer with vehicle.
- Operates dump truck, pick up trucks with trailers, spray truck with 300 gallon of chemicals, and hand and power tools.
- Opens and closes weirs.
- Performs routine maintenance on related equipment.
- Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and six months of experience operating large or vehicular construction equipment.
- Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License permit with air brakes endorsement and an acceptable driving record with the ability to obtain a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License with air brakes endorsements within six (6) months of hire date is required.
- This is a safety-sensitive position, which is subject to Drug & Alcohol Workplace testing as provided in DOT regulation 49CFR-parts 40 and /or 655.
- Pesticide application experience is preferred.
- Aquatic pest control experience is preferred.
- Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to pull a 300 foot spray hose. Ability to stand, crawl, sit or kneel for long periods of time throughout the day. Sufficient physical stamina to perform related common labor duties. Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather. Ability to hear within normal range.
- Ability to work flexible hours under emergency situations. Ability to judge wind speed/direction, chemical drift, and weather conditions. Ability to read, write and complete various forms and paperwork. Ability to interact with the public in a professional manner.
- Must be able to pick up, push, pull or move a 50 pound object. That object may consist of tools, equipment or materials used in Operations day to day activities.
- The work days and hours are Tuesday - Friday 7:00am - 5:30pm.
