POSITION TITLE: Shipping/Receiving FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Shipping/Receiving position is responsible for supporting all inbound and outbound logistics operations, including receiving, inspecting, packing, staging, loading, and shipping of products and materials. This role ensures accurate handling, documentation, and movement of goods while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Adhere to internal procedures for picking, packing, staging, receiving, and issuing purchase orders.
- Locate, gather, and stage products and hardware for shipment.
- Apply best practices for packing and crating, including appropriate labeling to prevent damage.
- Build shipping structures such as crates, skids, and gaylords.
- Load outbound shipments using safe and efficient methods (LTL, TL, dedicated trucks, or specialized equipment).
- Communicate via phone and email to schedule shipments and book transportation.
- Use ERP system for shipment planning and purchase order issuance.
- Maintain accurate shipment records, including Bills of Lading (BOLs) and photos.
- Track shipments and communicate with internal teams regarding delays or discrepancies.
- Monitor transportation performance and hold carriers accountable for service, pricing, and delivery.
- Assist in month-end close for freight-related purchase orders and invoices.
- Receive, inspect, and document all inbound materials.
- Report any damage or discrepancies immediately.
- Work with Purchasing to label and store received items properly.
- Support Purchasing in handling returns or damaged goods.
- Notify Purchasing when shipping supply levels are low.
- Assist with cycle counts and ongoing inventory accuracy.
- Help maintain an organized stockroom and material storage areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the yard and shipping/receiving areas.
- Verify all outgoing orders for accuracy and communicate discrepancies to Production.
- Flexibility to arrive early or stay late to support loading, unloading, or deliveries.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory management.
- Intermediate computer skills: experience with ERP systems preferred.
- Forklift certification required.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record; DOT eligibility preferred.
- Ability to lift and move 50-75 lbs. regularly.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; work with their hands handle, or feel, whether directly manipulating components or using controls on an assembly machine. Employee must be able to talk or hear over shop noise. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 to 75 pounds and move it for at least 50 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
MECHANICAL / TECHNICAL SKILLS:
The employee must be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers, and machines. Math: Basic math is needed
