Equipment Operator
Class BCDL Required. Regularly scheduled Monday through Thursday 10-Hour Shifts. Base Pay: $15.74. With Overtime Opportunities.

Job Summary:
This position operates equipment in support of construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
Major Duties:
Operates a variety of trucks, including tri-axle truck dump truck, single axle dump truck, tractor-trailer combination, single axle flatbed truck, and others.
Operates tractors, including bush hogs, side mowers, and others.
Performs routine repairs and maintenance on assigned equipment; changes oil, repairs and replaces tires, and makes welding repairs.
Cleans vehicles and equipment.
Completes safety inspections prior to operating equipment; operates equipment according to safety guidelines.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skilled in the operation of assigned vehicles and equipment.

Supervisory Controls:
The Assistant Road Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
Guidelines:
Guidelines include department policies and procedures, and equipment operation manuals. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
Complexity:
The work consists of related equipment operation duties. Heavy traffic and inclement weather may contribute to the complexity of the position.
Scope and Effect:
The purpose of this position is to operate equipment in the construction, repair, and maintenance of county roadways. Success in this position contributes to the safety of county roadways.

Physical Demands:
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, bending, crouching, stooping, standing or walking. The employee must frequently lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguish between shades of color.
Work Environment:
The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
