Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural and engineering drawings, project plans, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for a project.
- Prepare accurate and competitive bids in collaboration with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier quotes and negotiate pricing where needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, pricing, and construction methods.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits when required.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risks in project scopes.
- Track and manage bid schedules and ensure timely submission of estimates.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide post-bid support and hand-off to project execution teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in commercial estimating (general contractor or subcontractor experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, or similar).
- Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment under tight deadlines.
