The role of this position is to plan, publicize, manage and produce a large and complex program of music performances, concerts and other events for the Department of Music; prepare production budgets; coordinate and modify production schedules within budgetary limits; supervise publicity and production staff; manage production workflow; and provide for safety, comfort and welfare of audiences, performers and technicians. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position Experience planning, coordinating and staging of public music performances, insuring availability of necessary equipment. Experience arranging for adequate staffing of rehearsals and performances; providing technical assistance in lighting, set design and construction, staging and sound projection. Supervisory skills and knowledge of customer service relations and quality service techniques. Knowledge of fire and safety regulations and policies governing use of University equipment and supplies with experience in applying policies to provide for the safety, comfort and welfare of audiences, performers and technicians. Ability to work effectively under constant pressure of deadlines utilizing excellent organizational skills, time management efficiency, and careful attention to detail. Knowledge of publication process: layout, design, with various computer software programs and graphic art design. Knowledge of music industry ,production and operations. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students and student employees in an intense, academically oriented setting. Knowledge of University contracts requirements sufficient to draft individualized performer contracts. Familiarity with standard musical repertoire. Interpersonal communication skills. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely. Knowledge of musical instruments; background in music. Key Responsibilities 45% - Public Events Manager: Concerts and Lecture Series 30% - Marketing and Production Manager 15% - Campus/Community Services 10% - Development and Alumni Relations Coordinator Department Overview The Department of Music sponsors 150 concerts and public events each year in a variety of venues, including the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Events include concerts by the department's resident professional contemporary chamber ensemble and its nine student/community ensembles (UC Davis Symphony Orchestra, University Chorus, Chamber Singers, Baroque and Early Music ensembles, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, jazz big band and jazz combo), plus master classes and concerts by annual artists-in-residence, guest lectures, a weekly free noon concert series and numerous student recitals.
