Position Summary:
The Carpenter will be responsible for performing skilled carpentry work for the Butler Area School District. This includes the maintenance, repair, and construction of district facilities, furniture, and equipment.
Essential Functions:
Performs routine tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of wood structures., fixtures and furnishings according to blueprints, sketches, etc. Construct, repair, and install structures and fixtures such as walls, doors, windows, stairways, and shelving. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on district property. This includes repairing and replacing damaged woodwork, trim, and hardware. Construct and repair cabinets, desks, and other school furniture. Maintains inventory of regularly utilized building and hardware supplies Installs and repairs doors and related hardware including doorknobs and locks. Sets and anchors frames, hangs new doors and repairs door closers and hinges. Hangs items such as pictures, signs, curtain tracks/rods, utilizing small tools and wall anchors Inspect buildings and other structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations. Work with other maintenance staff and district personnel to complete projects efficiently. Adhere to all safety regulations and building codes. Maintain a safe and clean work area. Performs general maintenance work including, but not limited to building concrete forms, installing drywall, mixing cement, patching walls, etc. Repairs and reassembles machinery, tools and equipment as needed Performs maintenance duties in utility tunnels with limited clearance Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications:
Skills, Experience and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting. Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods. Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building specifications. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Other Requirements:
extensive troubleshooting skills ability to work independently or as part of a team ability to lift, carry and move heavy objects (up to 100 lbs) ability to stand, walk, kneel, and climb for extended periods of time valid driver's license comfortable working at heights up to 100 ft in various weather conditions Application instructions: Apply online or contact 724.214.3217
