Job Title: Pipe Welder
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder capable of performing multi-pass, all-position fillet, and butt welds using the SMAW process. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to fuse inserts and weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe using both SMAW and GTAW processes, including mirror welding. Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry is essential, as well as proficiency in using fillet gauges, butt gauges, and a six-inch scale.
Responsibilities
Read blueprints and drawings to plan layout and procedures.
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
Set up components for welding according to specifications, such as cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
Utilize a heating torch with Oxygen/Propane for heating purposes.
Pass computer-based training for welding procedures and safety.
Essential Skills
2-5 years of TIG and STICK pipe welding experience.
Three years' experience with various techniques, including electric, gas, and arc welding.
Proficiency in SMAW and TIG welding for carbon and stainless steel.
Ability to pass the SMAW 6-inch weld test.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with industrial, stick, pipe, tig, and 6g welding.
Familiarity with shutdowns and construction site environments.

Work Environment
Work on various construction jobs throughout Hampton Roads, primarily on the Ameresco project in Norfolk. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 4 PM, with occasional Saturdays.

This is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
