Carpenter
Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a Carpenter to join our Tenant Service Team with strong carpenter skillsets and abilities to support the maintenance requests at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE for the DuPont FS&RE Function. Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Supervisor. Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities. Knowledge of residential and commercial construction along with remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control. Proficient at the following tasks: stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, utilize appropriate math skills. Able to read blueprints. Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates. Ability to move materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site. Builds and erects a broad range of structures in support of construction and maintenance activities. Details: Experience as a Carpenter or Journeyman Carpenter. Ability to read and have working knowledge of project plans (both formal and informal) along with construction documentation. Ensure blueprints and plans are followed precisely. Able to perform take-off material lists, perform layouts, etc. Perform excavation, demolition, flooring, tile, windows, doors, insulation, painting, etc. with the exception of plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Good time management skills. Basic ability to understand the scope of work, estimate the time involved, and take initiative with fundamental scheduling changes to minimize cost and time. Be an essential line of communication between subcontractors and managers, report on progress to managers, etc. Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall. Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives. Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders, to repair and erect structures. Work safely from ladders and scaffolds. Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions, including angles/degrees. Install partitions, doors, and windows. Install cabinets and molding, and finish trim. Replace panes of glass, ceiling tiles, and doors. Proficient experience in installation of wood and metal stud wall framing. Hang sheetrock, tape, spackle, and sand. Create structures for pouring concrete. Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met, maintain safe and clean working Verify work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
