Job Summary/Basic Function

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Install, repair, and maintain water, air, vacuum, gas, hot water, distilled water, acid, and chemical distribution lines and systems; storm and sanitary waste lines and systems; steam and condensate return distribution lines and systems, all ranging from standard systems to specialized installations. May be required to inspect, test, service, and maintain water softening equipment. Perform soldering, gluing, threading of joints. Cabling and camera sanitary, storm and grease drain lines. Knowledge of hanger spacing and associated requirements. Knowledge of Installation and service of all commercial plumbing fixtures and associated components. Insulate and paint lines and equipment as required. Drill holes in walls, floors, and ceilings. Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment. Observe and enforce all safety requirements related to equipment operation. May perform or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance of records. May be required to operate a backhoe and other construction equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains. 2. Assembles pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using screws, bolts, solder, plastic solvent, and caulking. 3. Installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, and fixtures, such as sinks, toilets and tubs, using hand and power tools. 4. Studies building plans and inspects structure to determine required materials and equipment and sequence of pipe installations. 5. Cuts opening in structures to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools. 6. Locates and marks position of pipe installations and passage holes in structures, using measuring instruments, such as ruler and level. 7. Cuts, threads, and bends pipe to required angle, using pipe cutters, pipe threading machine, and pipe bending machine. 8. Fills pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observes pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks. 9. Directs workers engaged in pipe cutting and preassembly and installation of plumbing systems and components.

Minimum Qualifications •

Education:

High school diploma required. Two years formal and documented apprenticeship •

Experience : Five years of previous experience in commercial and residential. • Valid Driver's License • Must be able to pass background check Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance • Knowledge of equipment, tools, mechanical devices, and their uses to produce motion, light, power, technology, and other applications • Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models • Ability to keep accurate documentation and records Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications

Preferred Qualifications • Four years actual work experience and training which may include equivalent of apprenticeship or completion of vocational training, in the trade. • Ability to read blueprints, plans, drawings, and plumbing diagrams. • Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of applicable trade.

Ability on a daily basis to: • Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment. • Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-80 lbs.). • Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc. • Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs. • Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
