Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Heavy Equipment Crane Operator who is committed to safety and efficiency. Under general supervision, you will operate commercial vehicles to load and unload crane equipment from trailers and assist in crane setup at various job sites. You will perform essential pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure safe operation and conduct routine vehicle checks in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. This role requires flexibility, as you may need to work long hours in outdoor conditions. Our fleet includes cranes ranging from a 23-ton boom truck to a 900-ton Liebherr model LTM 1750 - 9.1. Determine load weights to prevent overloading and ensure safety. Inspect crane equipment for defects and identify issues. Use hand and voice signals to manage the installation and movement of materials. Direct the activities of oilers, truck drivers, or riggers in setting up and dismantling equipment. Complete job tickets for customer accountability. Safely operate commercial trucks, forklifts, and passenger vehicles. Adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and state laws. Engage in physical activities including climbing, lifting, and handling materials. Fulfill roles as a rigger, signalman, or crane setup assistant as required. Track and report maintenance hours diligently. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness daily. Exhibit professional conduct in interactions with customers, the public, and coworkers. Perform other related assignments as necessary. Requirements: Knowledge of traffic safety rules to prevent accidents. Able to follow oral and written instructions effectively. Willingness to perform manual labor in challenging weather conditions. Good physical condition with the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment. Motivated and able to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong customer service skills and effective communication abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Education, Training, and Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of ninth grade required. Candidates must be at least 18 years old with two years of verifiable experience driving a Class A commercial vehicle. A current Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL), an acceptable moving violations record, and a current DOT medical card are mandatory. Applicants should possess current licensures from the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) and applicable state licensing. Experience with Grove, Link Belt, and Liebherr cranes is a plus. Special Requirements: Passing a road test is required. Candidates should be prepared for occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, and airborne particles, as well as moderate noise levels. Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary. Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work well in a team are essential. Candidates must successfully pass a background check, drug test, and DOT physical.
